Naim NAC 282 Preamplifier Including NAPSC
The NAPSC independently powers the digital and control circuits of the Naim NAC 282. Leaving its audio circuits to either the power supply of a NAC 155 XS or NAP 200 power amplifier, or to one of the standalone FlatCap XS, HiCap or SuperCap power supplies.
The result is even greater transparency and superior musicality plus, of course, all the flexibility you’d expect from one of Naim’s preamplifiers.
Naim NAC 282 Preamplifier Features
- Support for both DIN and RCA inputs to facilitate connection into a wider range of systems
- Silent microprocessor control that sleeps during listening
- Precision rotary potentiometers with precious metal wipers
- AV bypass mode for simple connection to an existing AV system
- Powered input for use with StageLine or SuperLine phono stages
Performance upgradable with FlatCap XS, HiCap or SuperCap power supply; can also be powered from the preamp inputs of the NAP 155 XS or NAP 200 power amplifier
Technology & Craft
Low resonance circuit boards and anti-vibration, resonance control feet maximise isolation, hence minimizing the effects of microphonic vibration on the highly sensitive electronic components.
The NAC 282 features a silent microprocessor that sleeps during listening and controls all aspects of the amplifier. Optical protection circuits continuously monitor the power supplies ensuring safe shut-down in the event of a power cut.
A user configurable ‘Smart IR’ system remote control is supplied. Two of the six inputs on the Naim Audio NAC 282 can be configured either as the usual DIN inputs, preferred for their superior earthing and impedance matching, or for use with the more common RCA phono connectors, allowing a wide range of non-Naim Audio cables and components to be used. A dedicated unity-gain input is provided for use with the Naim Audio AV2 processor or similar.
About Naim Audio
Every Naim product is conceived, designed and engineered entirely in service of the sound, revealing a pure experience of music that is as close as possible to its original live source.
Naim believe that the exploration of sound is an adventure that rewards you with a clarity and connection that becomes more powerful the deeper you travel within it. Which is why, every element within their systems is crafted to create a silence around the sound, reducing any interference between you and the intention of the artist.
Let the voice of Naim take you inside the music… Go Deeper.

STRENGTH:A half power bandwidth of 10 to 100,000 cycles per second guarantees solid bass and clear highs. A low TIM reduces listener fatigue and as with most transistor equipment, issues with reactive speaker loads are unlikely due to a solid damping factor. Macon Auto Glass Repair

STRENGTH:NAC 282 is a sheer delight: musical and solid, spacious and detailed. It presents music as…music, vital and alive. Sitiing down to listen to listen to one song, and before you know it you’re at the end of side (I mainly play records, you can tell!) Utterly delightful pre-amp.
WEAKNESS:Not a weakness as such, but do read the manual – it’s simple but for a bonehead like me, I had to spend some time working out the buttons!

I chanched my 202 for the 282 and I don’t regret it. Compare to the 202 the 282 shows more detail and much more control in bass. (On my Audiovector SR6 speakers). A real ‘high-end’ pre-amp! |

STRENGTH:Very dynamic, open, musical sound, really involving.
Build quality superb WEAKNESS:Logic software control, I find a litle quirky , after Linn, which is still better in this respect BUT not for sound.
I have recently changed pre amps from very old, trusted firiend namely Linn Kairn circa 1997 model year to brand new 2007 NAC 282. The diference is chalk and cheese. I always thought my Kairn was good, and I guess it is, but the 282 just blows it away. The 282 really allows the Klouts to shine . BUT – you are right there with the band, NOT at the back of the hall, if this upfront sound wont suit think carefully, but for me — MAGIC |
